What you'll do

This is a four/five hour walking tour of Outlander filming locations in and around Hopetoun House, Abercorn Church and Midhope Castle ("Lallybroch"). You will have access to private parts of the estate not normally open to visitors and see at first hand the many locations used in seasons 1, 2 3, AND 4 of Outlander. We start at Hopetoun House deer park with a view of the rear of the house from the south deer park. We then take a walk through the 300 year old deer park to Abercorn Church where we look for the grave of Frank Randell. This ancient church is linked with St Ninian as far back as 400AD and the grave yard has an ancient yew grove and wonderful early gravestones. From here it's a walk through the woods to the edge of the river Forth (to view Blackness Castle) then up by the Midhope Burn passed where poor Fergus lost his hand and Jamie spent time in a cave to reach Broch Tuarach and Lallybroch where we can have a wee dram. We will then visit Blackness Castle.

James

I have spent my life on and around this beautiful historic country estate which has been used as a filming location for the TV series Outlander. I have studied local history and work as a volunteer tour guide at Hopetoun House. I was the landlord of the local pub before opening a B&B to guests in 2012. I always love to share my knowledge of the secret sites used as filming locations and love to surprise my guests by showing them this special place only locals know.
