What you'll do

It's time for Vancouver's secrets to come out of the closet. From drag kings and two spirit warriors, to queer church ministers and transgender crime fighters, this walking tour is a celebration of the unsung heroes who forever changed the social fabric of Vancouver

Meet your guide - the man in pink! - outside Vancouver City Centre Skytrain Station on West Georgia Street. You'll embark on a 2 hour adventure into the LGBTQ2+ history and culture of this West Coast metropolis.

Start in the heart of Vancouver's entertainment scene on Granville Street, where you'll discover Vancouver's very earliest gay bars. Weave a path through Imperial Court coronations, drag kings at the Quadra, gay ministers at the United Church, the myth of Patient Zero, the GRID crisis, and visit urban oasis Nelson Park, until you find yourself in the gaybourhood on Davie Street.

The walking tour strolls the historic tree-lined West End as you discover the city's earliest Pride parade, Jim Deva Plaza, bookstore bombings, a transgender campaigner who blew the whistle on the biggest crime in Vancouver history, Vancouver’s secret gay village, and the remarkable story of two-spirited warrior Gone to the Spirits.

You’ll finish right in the middle of the action in the Davie St. village with its variety of bars and restaurants. The perfect place to enjoy a cocktail as you reflect on your afternoon's adventure.

The tour was very thoughtfully organized and he provided the briefest possible work view in sharing his stories and information. The words came from the heart and were presented in a very professional and imaginative way. And he got the group involved in participating which was welcome and appropriate Bravo!

Such a great tour! Our guide Glenn was very personable, informative and entertaining. We learned a lot about history, the city and the LGBTQ2+ community, we couldn’t stop talking about it for the rest of the day.

Glenn was ver knowledgeable about Vancouver's LGBTQ+ history. It was fascinating learning about the heroes from this community's past and the hard fought won freedoms we enjoy today.

We visited Vancouver for the first time during Pride Week. Our tour took place on Pride Sunday so we really felt like we were part of the LGBTQ community as we learned about Vancouver's rich queer history. Our guide, Will, was very knowledgeable and humorous, which made the tour all that more enjoyable. We liked that it included stories about ALL members of the LGBTQ community.
