What you'll do

I have unique access to beautiful rock beaches on the river right in front of my house. Guests will arrive at my house and have a tour of my art studio and living space before enjoying refreshments and homemade baked goods in my rustic gazebo by the river. Then we will walk down to the river and have time to stand in the river (rubber rain boots recommended) and explore the natural beauty the river provides. I will demonstrate and explain the basics in the process of building a cairn, while sharing tips to get started on the rock balancing experience. You will have the opportunity to practice and create your own cairns, while experiencing the physical and mental benefits of focused mindfulness. You will have the opportunity to be photographed with your creation and I will provide a digital copy of your photo after the workshop is completed. A printed and framed photo will be available to order in various sizes for an additional fee. After returning from the river, guests will have the opportunity to reflect on their experience while enjoying more refreshments and snacks in my gazebo overlooking the river which is also a perfect wildlife/birdwatching spot.

Learn more about Ellen

Ellen

I am an artist who loves sharing my beautiful spot on the South Fork of the Snoqualmie river in North Bend surrounded by mountains. I spend time daily standing in the river, appreciating nature and building large and small cairns (rock stacks). I love to teach others how to balance rocks and find peace and relaxation by the river. I began building cairns 10 years ago and quickly discovered the mental and physical benefits, especially related to anxiety relief and mindfulness. They are temporary structures, held together with gravity glue and an excellent practice in non-attachment
