What you'll do

I will pick you up at BUS STOP NUMBER 8, next to the big Church, Hallgrímskirkja, downtown Reykjavík.
We drive to Hvalfjörður Fjord, where the waterfall is situated. There we hike for about 3 hours. On the way we need to cross a river. The river has a tree trunk over it, and we cross it. The hike from there to the viewpoint is sometimes very steep. The view from the top is amazing and rewarding. Glymur, the waterfall, falls 198 meters and used to be the highest waterfall in Iceland. Due to warming, a new and higher waterfall has appeared. Remember good shoes, proper clothes and your camera!
A challenging hike with some high cliffs. Not suited for people afraid of heights!
Other things to note
Good hiking boots and proper clothes for the activity

I am born and raised in Iceland. Living next door to nature it became clear very early that I would become a geologist. There is no better place than peaceful nature. Birdsong in the summer is a plus. I love nature, hiking the wild and Iceland is a paradise for both. I want to take you on a journey to one of the highest waterfalls in Iceland, Glymur. Adventure and destress with me in tranquility, in nature, next door to Reykjavík. A mindful hike close to the capital.
My cohost is Stone, who is a landscape photographer and an adventurer. He has biked most trails that exist in Iceland and probably knows Iceland better than most people.

We had Thorir as guide on our tour, he was great! Actual conversations, no annoying "tourist talk", super professional and welcoming at the same time. Definitely recommend!

If you want an unforgettable hike to Glymer Falls, go with Helga. She is thoughtful, informative and familiar with every aspect of this walk. Much better than the gym!😁

Helga wasn’t able to do the hike with us so we went with a bigger group with Stone, Helga’s co-host. The hike was nice, sometimes steep but well worth it, and we saw some beautiful views of the waterfall. We only hiked for a total of 2.7 miles and unfortunately didn’t go all the way to the top of the waterfall. There was no mindfulness built in as expected.

Unfortunately I never got to meet Helga as she was unable to host the hike and offered the same trip with another host. She communicated the change to me, which I appreciated. As for the hike itself it was absolutely beautiful. We hiked at a very comfortable pace and the replacement guide was very helpful and knowledgeable.

Helga is a wonderful tour guide! Being able to go out and hike in a new place is always an excellent activity, but doing this experience with a knowledgeable guide is the best way to do it. Her positive attitude and fun stories create a great atmosphere for hiking, and the waterfall she brought us to (Glymur) was amazing. The mindfulness experience she incorporated at the end was great, it’ll make you feel really connected to the earth.
