This fabric jewellery workshop takes place in a cafe around the corner from my home studio in Maboneng. Here we’ll get to know each other over local drinks and tunes. We’ll also get acquainted with a proudly South African fabric called shweshwe, which I'll show you how to manipulate into bold and bright jewellery…

I'm a fabric jewellery designer, self-taught seamstress, and the founder of Nomi Handmade - a proudly South African textile jewellery brand that was established in September 2015. I'm especially drawn to the bright colours and patterns - my most favourite being those of shweshwe, a traditional South African fabric.

Where you'll be

We'll meet outside my building, where I'll take you into a pizzeria/cafe that is located on the ground floor of my block. Here we will gather around a table prepped for a morning/afternoon of crafting.
