What you'll do

After a VERY early-morning pick-up, we will drive to the base of the hiking trail. After a short briefing, you’ll embark on your journey to Preikestolen.

You’ll begin your outdoor adventure in darkness, hiking with headlamps. Hiking in the hushed silence of night is in itself an experience. Though animals are shy around people, it’s a certainty that they’ll be awake and alert, observing you from behind the old trees and scattered boulders that surround the trail. While the wildlife watches, your guide will lead you up through the shifting terrain, which includes bogs, forests, and glacier-scoured mountains.

After approximately 2.5 hours of hiking, you’ll reach the Preikestolen plateau just before sunrise. You’ll watch as the first beams of sunlight climb over the horizon and illuminate the Lysefjord’s steep mountain walls. You’ll have ample time to take photos and enjoy a warm beverage and snack atop Preikestolen. Long before the first tourist-packed busses arrive, you’ll be on your way back down the trail to conclude your unique hiking adventure with a well-deserved breakfast (included).

A great experience with a really good guide Erlend, who managed to have everybody feeling welcome and keeping the right pace. Walking in the dark and then slowly seeing the scenery becoming more and more visible was just amazing and well the view from preikestolen was just great! Would highly recommend doing the sunrise hike 😊

It was totally special experience. I'm happy this is the first experience of hiking to me. We met up around 1:00 am and finished up around 11 am. Hiking 2.5 hours was a bit hard to me. Because sometimes it was like lock climbing. I had to use my hand to take balance and it tiring my legs and waist. But Johannes made time to rest regularly and cheered us up. We arrived on the top before sunrise and waited sunrise. It was super cold. I highly recommend you wear proper sports inner. During hiking we were sweat a lot. So after sweating, if you wear just a T shirts as a inner, you may catch a cold...! Sunrise was amazing. But the most impressive point to me was and return way. It was incredible beautiful landscape. I realized the benefit of hiking in the dark. I can't see anything during heading to top, so finally I could see where I am hiking when I am going down. Everything was new and so beautiful. You never get bored to hike of same road.
