What you'll do

08:00 AM Meet at our sister restaurant Zest Ubud. We will share our famous cacao ceremony drink before heading to the school, 1 hour north
09:30 AM Arrival at New Earth School. Made will teach us about Balinese spirituality, traditional offerings, customs etc. Together we will do a small Balinese Hindu ceremony to bless our day ahead.
10:30 Tea Time. Angga will take us on a brief tour around our rainforest herb garden to collect fragrant roots, shoots, and leaves for our herbal brew.
11:30. Food forest adventure. Angga and Iwan will take you on a tour around our 5-year-old food forest garden. We have planted hundreds of different plants, trees, and shrubs and you will learn about their culinary and medicinal uses. Next, we are off to the kitchen where Chef Made has prepared a delicious modern Balinese lunch. Using a combination of traditional ingredients and modern techniques and flavours, together we will prepare an absolute feast. Can't cook? Don't worry! Our rule at the school: follow your heart and do as you please!
14:00 Lunchtime. We will sit around our big recycled wood table and share a wholesome, incredible plant-based feast!

We are a team of 3 local Balinese hosts who are deeply passionate about Mother Earth, natural, healthy food and spiritual connection. We are part of the non-profit New Earth School which is a place dedicated to a life in harmony with Nature. Made, the Chef, studied food science in University and runs her own organic restaurant for the last 3 years. Angga dedicated his life to regenerative farming in his homeland of Indonesia after spending 8 years studying in Germany. Iwan is a next-generation rice farmer with a University degree, determined to give power back to the farmers who grow our food.

Where you'll be

Zest Ubud is a unique plant based restaurant in Ubud. The founder of our school is the chef at this restaurant. We may give you a sneak peak behind the scenes and most weeks you will get to meet the chef!
Our food forest gardens are very special eco systems with a large variety of foods which become harder to find in touristic Bali.
Our cooking classes are absolutely unique! Guaranteed!

Cancellation policy

Any experience can be cancelled and fully refunded within 24 hours of purchase, or at least 7 days before the experience starts.

Guest requirements

Up to 10 guests ages 12 and up can attend. Parents may also bring children under 2 years of age.
