What you'll do

I thank AirBnB for selecting me as "World's Best Home Cook" with Claudia, Pedro and Nonna.

It's unique "cultural cooking class" for everyone! You'll learn how to make Sushi at home, and at the same time, get in touch with traditional Japanese culture in a friendly manner.

"It smells good!" It's the first thing which guests say when they enter the kitchen. Yes, real Sushi smells good! I also invite you to the backstages of kabuki by showing exclusive short films which I took. Get inspired by KABUKI!

◼︎Making home-made-Sushi is an entertainment! The fun part is to make Sushi together, using a lot of ingredients.

◼︎Solo travelers and couples are welcome. I also recommend this to families, because it's fun! If you bring kids, I'll pay special attention to them.

◼︎Anytime OK, just ask
◼︎HALAL/Vegetarian/Gluten free/Egg free WELCOME

It's been really hard time as an experience host, but I decided to move forward toward new standard of Airbnb to prevent COVID-19.

So, I will give you two choices when you make reservation; my summer house in Chiba prefecture or my apartment in the heart of Tokyo. Please let me know if you want to escape from Tokyo, in that case, I'll make sure that you have really safe, relaxing time with me in my summer house.

Since I started hosting, I have met more than 1000 guests . My credo is “Every moment is for my guests” and I’m grateful to all the people who participate and are interested in learning more about my culture.

I’ve welcomed guests from around the world, and oui, je parle le français!

Making sushi with Kaori was a highlight of our time in Japan. She graciously taught our small group about the traditions of her family and the art of making different types of sushi. Everything was thoughtfully prepared and presented, and the quality of the meal we enjoyed throughout the evening was so special. We can't recommend enough this wonderful workshop with Kaori.

Kaori-san is an exceptional host and the experience is truly unique. As well as adapting the session to our pre-existing sushi experiences, she is an incredible storyteller and a brilliant teacher. I was able to achieve things that I never thought I'd be able to make! She gets the balance between teaching, guiding and interacting absolutely perfect and we left the class with huge smiles on our faces. Of course, the sushi was also incredibly oishi! The adaptations that she has made in order to keep her guests safe during the pandemic are innovative and effective. This, combined with her superb hospitality, has meant we've recommended the experience to a number of friends. We're just sad that we won't have time to attend again.

We had a very nice experience cooking sushis with Kaori. She taught us how to make a variety of sushis, I think we made more than 10 different ones and ate them all! We could also create our own depending on our preferences. We felt very welcome in her apartment. She is a very friendly, knowledgable and sweet person and we could feel her joy to share her culture with us. We ate a lot and had a lot of fun!

The meet up location as well as proximity to the apartment was very convenient. Before the activity, we were given all the information on what to expect ahead of time. Since we had a 7-yr old with us, Kaori generously adjusted the level of language used to ensure our child is involved, asking him to do simple tasks in preparation and was patiently coaxing my child to be interested and confident to perform the tasks which in turn surprised us because he ate all the foods he prepared himself that otherwise he will not, based on the ingredients. Thank you Kaori, for giving us a glimpse on and newfound respect for sushi-making. It was indeed a good experience for our family!

This was a wonderful evening. Kaori is dedicated to teaching about the many types of sushi we prepared and it was a special experience. Also enjoyed learning a little about the Kibuki theater. Great time - highly recommend this experience.
