What you'll do

I will run an hour drawing experience from my studio situated on Scarborough's West Pier. Using different illustrators work for inspiration you will create your own drawing/illustration based loosely on the style of Quentin Blake. You may wish to use the wonderful scenery of the surrounding harbour and bay for inspiration!
Using different art materials we'll experiment using them although the focus will be on using watercolour paints and ink, this being in keeping with the style of Quentin Blake. This is also a fun and easy to use medium to work with so it will not be too daunting for the un-confident participant. I like to encourage imagination and can be flexible to different levels of abilities. This experience is all age friendly (except toddlers) and can be adapted to different age and skill levels. I have an enhanced DBS check, however any children must be accompanied by an adult. Maximum group number is 5
Other things to note
Pay and display parking is available on sight. There are a small amount of stairs to reach my studio.

Please contact me if the time you would like to attend is not offered, I run several experiences from my studio and the Air bnb system does not allow a cross over of times, I am happy to change times of workshops dependent on needs.

We thoroughly enjoyed being creative with Karen in her amazing studio space. The class was well paced and we were all comfortable with her support and encouragement to create some lovely art. I highly recommend for a different and relaxed creative activity for all the family.

This is a great way to spend an hour in Scarborough and discover your inner Quentin Blake. Karen is very friendly and encouraging. She provides all materials and is a great teacher. We managed to create two pictures within the hour which was a huge achievement for clients who had not tried to draw since they were at school decades ago. Karen's enthusiasm for art is infectious. We would recommend a visit.

Karen was very warm and made us welcome with coffee etc., she has a beautiful cozy studio and a deep knowledge of what she is trying to teach. We went with very little confidence and she helped us practice and then produce a lovely piece of artwork to take away and treasure. The intimate nature of the space and her help made the whole experience very enjoyable and feel to be extremely good value. We would do this again.
