What you'll do
Be inspired by an explosion of coloured thread, a huge array of templates, books, hand embroidered artefacts and a very artsy environment. All abilities catered for from absolute beginners to more advanced enthusiasts. This experience is perfect for individuals, families, friendship groups, couples, hen/birthday parties, old and young. Why not embroider a special family keepsake together, a gift for friend/loved one or create an unique item for a special occasion/season? Funky hand embroidery and afternoon tea can of course be tailor made to suit your needs or creative wishes. Just drop us a line. We'll start embroidering some basic stitches before getting stuck into your chosen project , which is yours to take home in the end. Once you've made your selection it's time to sit down and immerse yourself in the peaceful and fulfilling world of embroidery. Chat, relax and have fun. Embrace new or old friendships. Why not being creative together with a glass of Prosecco and lovely homemade cakes? Tea, coffee, water and juice will be served as well. If you're visiting Highgate for the first time I'll happily point you in the right direction of the best local attractions. Kenwood House, Highgate Cemetery and leafy Highgate Village with its many traditional English pubs, is well worth a visit. Come and enjoy a lovely day out!
I'm Carin, from Sweden originally. Sewing, embroidery and craft are part of our cultural heritage: in my country, nearly every home has a sewing machine. I've been sewing all my life: a skill which has been very useful in all my creative careers: I started off as an actress/puppeteer and costume maker at Theatre Morianen in Malmo. On moving to London, I obtained a degree in Visual Design & Display (Harvey Nichols were a key client). My current passion is a modern take on embroidery. I teach both as a workshop leader (eg Wigmore Hall, St Michael's Highgate, The Swedish School) and privately.
