What you'll do
Take a leap of inspiration and create something that is truly you, with these relaxed and fun hand-building workshops. Playing with colour, shape and texture, pushing your ideas to create something functional and/or purely decorative out of clay. These workshops will provide you with hand-building techniques (slab building, pinch, coiling), that give you the confidence to go ahead and create your desired piece/s. It's all about being relaxed and finding your happy place. The workshops main focus is about pushing the boundaries of traditional forms/pieces. We explore alternative colours, shapes and textures, adding a special twist to make it all the more unique and adventurous. Session Structure The session is split into 2 parts. Part 1 - We dive into the basics of creating a simple hand-built form with a short demo and chat. Part 2 - Will be spent glazing your greenware work using underglazes. These are 2.5hr sessions. Personal and individual guidance is given throughout. All tools and materials are provided.
'Stuff and Fings' was borne out of my love for tinkering with, well, 'Stuff and Fings'. Playing with textures and shapes, art and design, experimentation and fun are at the core of all things, 'Stuff and Fings'. Having studied "Surface Pattern Design', at Jacob Kramer College in Leeds, inspired my interest in pushing the abstract and non-traditional in all aspects of my creativity. Hand-building with clay opened up many more possibilities within my work...it's the gift that keeps on giving! My work is large scale, decorative, sculptural and sometimes functional. I enjoy the absurd, the quirky and pushing to see where the creativity takes me. I create large scale one-off pieces.
Clay, tools, glazes are all provided.
