What you'll do

Ask for special dates, bigger groups, extra spots!! - - - This Experiences journeys into the Guachimontones archeological site, 45 minutes away from Guadalajara. If you join I will pick you up 8:30am. Once in the site we visit the museum for about 30 minutes, to introduce ourselves into Mexican Cultures in general and Guachimontones in particular. Afterwards we go the wilderness, a 15 minute walk into a unique location in the Jalisco Valleys beetween the Vega Lake, the Tequila Volcano and the Cuauhtépetl Sierra. (If you prefer not hiking the 15 min hill, you can be driven). In the ruins we will spend beetween 1 and 2 hours discovering what used to be the shelter and rejoice of a unique civilization. The idea is to be the first ones in the place, to avoid the crowds & the heat, to take good pictures & enjoy nature. At midday we go lunch. Either to a restaurant at the Vega Lake: there we can enjoy the beautiful landscapes and the exquisite seafood. The second option is the Hacienda del Carmen, a historical fortress from the XVIII Century dedicated to the production of sugar. Since 1996 the place turned into a hotel boutique and restaurant.

Where you'll be

The Guachimontones archeological site hosts the only circular stepped pyramids in Mexico, two ball game fields, and many mystical tombs. The site is located between the Tekuila Volcano and the Vega Lake. And the whole region is considered as World Heritage by the UNESCO, because of the cultures and natures recreated in the valleys for millennium. In the Vega Lake, for example, there are many migrational birds, floating lily islands, fishermen...
