What you'll do
Join us in our introductory class and dip your toes into the world of block printing. You will learn the basics of pattern design, how to create traditional block printed textiles at home and receive tips on how to properly get crisp perfect prints onto fabric. You will get to select from a large variety of wood block stamps that are hand carved by our craftsmen in India and use them to print on a khadi cotton scarf. The scarf measures approximately 2m long and is soft and breathable – perfect for Singapore’s climate. Each participant will also get to bring home your choice of wooden printing block and a beautifully printed scarf at the end of the workshop. At WithAutumn, we work with small scale local Indian artisans that have been doing their craft for generations – such as our block carvers and women khadi weavers for this workshop, and employ fair trade practices that take care of their social and environmental well-being and does not maximise profit at their expense. Our aim is to celebrate the the joy of these artisans and keeping the age old traditional crafts alive through combining traditional crafts with modern designs and experiential workshops.
