What you'll do

Join me for an eye opening immersive experience, into the world of traditional medicine and cultural nuances. During this experience we will be visit Durban city and the colourful Umlazi township. We will meet at the Oyster Box Hotel at Umhlanga Rocks (Durban North), for a quick orientation and to reassure you about your safety and proceedings of the day. From here we will explore the "muti" (traditional medicine) market at Warwick Triangle. We then make our way to Dalton Road traditional Zulu market to explore authentic Zulu attire/ regalia ( used in ceremonial gatherings). Next, we will venture into the nearby township of Umlazi, where you will be welcomed into a local homestead and share in a a typical “shisanyama” meal ( Zulu BBQ) and some traditional beer. You might even get to dance a local Zulu Warrior Dance (optional extra). I will interpret this wonderful Zulu interaction throughout, putting into a Western context and allowing you to better understand South African culture and diversity.
