What you'll do

I want to take you on a stroll through Jewish history and presence. We will start the tour in Kazimierz's Main Square-Plac Wolnica, where you'll be taken on a time travel to the medieaval times when the Jewish presence made its first traces on Polish land. With the historical background, we'll continue the walk through narrow, cobbled stone streets to get to the famous courtyard where St. Spielberg turned a few scenes for his Academy Awarded film, "The Schindler's List". We'll see later where rabbies before the war would observe the kosherness of poultry slaughter and where now hords of locals and tourists are tasting Polish famous street food known as Zapiekanki. We'll see 7 synagogues, and we'll enter the most significant one of them, to see where Rabbi Rama, the author of Ashkenazi Jewish Codex of Law, prayed and is buried. We'll also have a chance to see the present Jewish life by popping in to local JCC, kosher shop and kosher falafel bar. The tour will take us then to the other side of the Wisla river, the former WWII ghetto area, where you will learn about infamous nazi officer Amon Goeth and his ways of liquidating this once vital and outstandingly diverse Jewish community.
