I came to this experience on my last day in Cuba. Liane gave me a brief history about the xylographic art world and then gave me a tour of Sandra’s studio which was filled with beautiful works of art. After the tour, they showed me how to use a wood block etched with Sandra’s art to create my own xylographic print. It took a little elbow grease but my print turned out looking great! And it’s a nice souvenir to take home. At the end we sat around chatting over coffee, lemonade and cookies. I would recommend this experience because it really gives you a genuine feel of the work that goes into this type of art and you share it with people who are very passionate and knowledgable about it.

This experience is a gem! It felt like you are walking through a museum where you get to ask questions of the artist! And then...you get to learn how the art was made and then try your hand at it. The "snacks" at the end were refreshing and extraordinary! The hosts Liane and Reuben are authentic and attentive. The setting is spectacular! Don't miss it.

This studio tour and art experience was one of our favorite things in our whole trip! We were able to see some world class artwork, learn a bit about the artist's techniques, and make a beautiful print of our own. We especially loved sitting down to a small meal afterwards and talking with our hosts-they are lovely people and very interesting to chat with!

Such a great experience. We learned so much about the artist and her artwork. We had fun making our own and getting creative with it. We were super late to the experience but they were very patient and let us do everything.

This was such an amazing experience. My companion and I are artist educators so it was especially special to be able to meet Sandra Ramos and see all her work in her home. Liane is so knowledgeable, genuine and charismatic. It is a family effort (Sandra's brother facilitates the printmaking portion!) and they are all passionate, and even go the extra mile of doing a history of printmaking presentation that was so thoughtful (felt like I was in art school all over again!) We absolutely loved this experience, and for non artists you will equally enjoy it because the work and entire experience is just amazing, engaging, and genuine.
