What you'll do

Join us to explore the more industrial side of San Francisco in the Dogpatch district. Over the past few years, this neighborhood has transformed itself from a former warehouse district to a mecca for artists, architecture & design lovers and food connoisseurs. We will go on a relaxed stroll through the neighborhood and discover local food, art and independent shops - from streetwear to pastries, coffee to ice cream and galleries to workshops & boutiques. At each stop along the way, we will point out why we like the place and what's special about it. You will learn a lot about contemporary culture, design & architecture as well as the history of the neighborhood. At the galleries, we will provide an overview of the current exhibitions and point out our highlights to you. This is not your average walking tour! We will give you a true local perspective of contemporary culture in the neighborhood and (hope to) not bore you with random Wikipedia facts. You will have enough time to explore on the way, check out the stores and take in the local way of life. If you're looking for a truly local experience, you're at the right place here.

Julian

I have lived in San Francisco and the Bay Area for the past 8 years and love to explore and share the more hidden parts of San Francisco and Oakland. I'm a lover of design & architecture and the local way of life, fascinated by ever changing neighborhoods, always looking for new and interesting places to uncover. Having traveled and seen 100+ major cities in the world, I know what makes this area of the world unique and want to show you what the places and experiences are that you can only find here. I have held many private neighborhood walks for friends and friends of friends over the years and am looking forward to sharing my experience with a larger community here.

Where you'll be

We will start our stroll through the neighborhood from the northern end of the Dogpatch. On the way we will check out (what we think is) San Francisco's best ice cream, marvel at old brick buildings, visit a few local design & fashion boutiques (the best streetwear fashion in the city) and an artist workshop. After a break for coffee we will be ending up at one of the city's most up and coming art galleries in a converted two story warehouse.
