What you'll do

*NEW for Winter: groups of four or more get 20% off*

Get out of the hustle-and-bustle of Edinburgh for a day, take in stunning views of the city from the summit of an extinct volcano, and discover Edinburgh's unique history and folklore with a local guide.

With it's cobbled streets and winding lanes, there's no city quite as magical as Edinburgh. But have you ever ventured outside of the main city to discover its beautiful surroundings?

Over 2 and a half hours, we will walk a route through the scenic royal reserve of Holyrood Park, climbing up to the summit of Arthur's Seat, before descending and taking in spectacular views from the iconic Salisbury Crags. On the way, you'll see stunning views of Edinburgh and the surrounding areas, from the dockyards of Leith, the majestic Firth of Forth and the verdant hills of East Lothian.

While we walk, you will hear stories of Edinburgh's historical past; its creation and triumphs, its darkest moments (including some violent battles and horrid murders), and its momentous scientific discovery!

Guests should have a good level of physical fitness and be comfortable hiking for 2 hours on steep slopes and uneven terrain. There are steep steps, slopes, and rocky areas on this tour, and no toilets will be available. Accessible parking is available at Holyrood Car Park. Prepare for wet weather just in case!

Fab hike up to Arthur’s seat with John as my guide. Great and interesting stories and great recommendations and answers to all my Edinburgh questions. A super chilled experience. We made it to the top John, even in the pouring rain! Thanks so much :)

This is one of the best tours I’ve ever been on!!! The guide was John, he was so funny and such a great story teller, he really made the experience, it was a small group just me and another lady, who I became friends with at the end which was lovely so it felt much more personalised. The walk itself was great, my legs are sore today though! I laughed so much on this trip, John was just great, we all also screamed in the wind at the top which was great therapy haha!!! This was truly a magical tour, I throughly enjoyed it and recommend it to everyone, I’m a bit bias but if you can, get John as your tour guide!! He will have you in fits of laughter!!🤣

fantastic guided tour with John who not only told us some fascinating stories but also acted as our personalised photographer and consciously let us have plenty of rest breaks.

An excellent tour up the Arthur’s Seat. Although it isn’t a very difficult hike up, having a fantastic tour guide telling us interesting stories up the hike and showing us the “right” path elevated the entire experience. The tour guide, John, was very lovely, took extra care and attention for our safety and a fantastic photographer. Would definitely recommend to others visiting Edinburgh and thinking about walking up Arthur’s Seat!

This was my first Airbnb experience and it exceeded my expectations. The host was very friendly and nice. He gave lots of facts about Arthur’s seat and he offered to take amazing photos of me when we reached its peak. Cherry on top was the pleasant conversations we had on the way up. Would highly recommend this experience
