About your host

As a resident of New York's Greenwich Village for nearly 30 years, I know every nook and cranny of my neighborhood and, from my own personal research, I also know the history of New York's oldest pubs many of which are located among the winding streets of The Village. Also as a Broadway actor and stage director,(who used to freelance as a NYC tour guide) I'm a pretty darn good storyteller!

What we’ll do

We will begin our journey at 1:00 on a weekday afternoon. The group will meet at the Ear Inn, the second oldest pub in NYC established in 1817. Here we will have our first beer as we get to know each other a bit, learn about the historic building and about what the tour will be. By 1:20 or so we will walk uptown winding our way through the streets of Greenwich Village, learning about the…

What else you should know

This is a walking and history tour as well as one where guests can responsibly enjoy a drink or two. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring some US cash, as not all bars accept cards

Where you'll be

We will visit historic bars located in the West and East Villages of New York: The Ear Inn (Circa 1817) originally build by a freed African American slave, The White Horse Tavern, (circa 1880), Julius' Bar, NYC's oldest gay bar (circa 1860), the sights of Washington Square Park, and McSorley's Ale House (Circa 1857)

Guest requirements

Up to 6 guests ages 18 and up can attend. Younger guests are welcome to come on the tour, but anyone drinking alcohol must be 21 years old.

Government ID

You’ll need to take a picture of yourself that matches the photo on your ID. This is so Airbnb can confirm who’s actually going on the experience. You’ll only have to do this once.
