What you'll do
When you arrive, we'll stroll to Inspiration Hill where you'll paint an acrylic overlay on your wine bottle label to preserve it. While the label dries, feast on a charcuterie board paired with a complimentary tasting of 3 local wines while relaxing in our nursery garden that overlooks a beautiful vineyard. After you've unwound, we'll teach you how to care for your succulents so they thrive, and how to propagate them so that you can multiply your own. You will observe a variety of succulents in different stages of growth and we'll demonstrate the best way to water them. We'll also discuss common problems and how to solve them. After your bellies are full and your minds have been expanded, we'll move to our sunny greenhouse where you can tour our nursery full of succulents, carnivorous plants, and whimsical planters. We'll end the experience by helping you create your own wine bottle planter, assisting you in cutting and sanding your bottle and drilling a drainage hole. You will then be able to select 2 - 1 in. succulents (+some ground cover) from our collection, and we will help you plant them in provided soil. Additional succulents and planters can also be purchased. Bring your own wine bottle (or we can provide you with one). At the end of the experience, you'll walk away with a one of a kind wine country souvenir and the knowledge to best care for it.

We're a couple of wine loving city dwellers who've moved to wine country to chase our dreams and the owners of Fat Plants by DAN, a certified succulent nursery. Jennifer became a succulent addict 4 years ago after moving to SF from the East Coast. Jennifer has been propagating succulents and designing unique up-cycled succulent planters ever since. We've recently opened our succulent nursery so that we can spread our love of succulents and grow even more. Jennifer loves sharing her passion for succulents and spreading her knowledge of caring for them. Jennifer and Matthijs combine their passion for recycling, wine, and succulents by cutting recycled wine bottles into one of a kind planters, allowing them to upcycle their used wine bottles and show off their succulents in a unique and whimsical way.
