What you'll do

You will walk along paths and roads that have been created during the Roman time, 2000 years ago. Heading up the ancient "lasagna" a way that the Austrian built during the XIX Century, we first will stop over a magnificent view point of Santa Maria di Lourdes, from which we have a dramatic view over the roofs of Verona! After that we will get to a local small winery, where you will recover your energies and have the chance (at your will) to taste some genuine wine. After that "tasty break" together we will cover a ring itinerary along a hidden route surrounded by stone walls, rosemary shrubs and olive trees. The meeting point will be reached walking down a Roman path in a shady wood, that leads beside the water spring of Sommavalle (meaning the peak of the valley) that was considered a "sacred place" from the first inhabitants of this area, already before the Romans. This itinerary could be done in both the directions depending on the weather.

I am a certified Nature Guide by Regione Veneto and I love my land our environment and our story. I want you to see the hidden sides of the land I live in. Enjoy a day trip out of the center of the city! You will see the genuine part of our heritage made of story, traditions and of course, nature. I avoid the touristy routes to let you discover a truly "local" side of Verona and its countryside. When I go abroad I like to take my time, enjoy genuine meals with local food and then I like to discover as much as I can about the destination I am visiting. And this could happen away from the "tourist traps". So I am sure that most of you want to do the same! Just get in touch and enjoy a short guided hike along ancients paths that surround the old city outside the medieval walls.

Where you'll be

I will guide you from the old centre, Lungadige San Giorgio, out to the hills at the back of Verona. There is no great effort to reach the head of Valdonega, and then we follow the path in the shady wood that leads us to the head of the hills, at the Church of San Mattia. After the break we will head down along the "lasagna" an ancient pebble road that, after a stop-over by the Sanctuary of S. Maria di Lourdes, will lead us to the meeting point.
