What you'll do

We will start the workshop by welcoming you around a local chai (tea), a quick presentation of Barefoot College and our different initiatives targeting rural women (solar, sewing, permaculture and beekeeping), and introduce the session. We will then suit up with the beekeeping equipment, light the smoker and head to the apiary. There we will open some of our beehives to show you the inside of a colony, and learn to read a wax comb: eggs, pollen, honey, worker bees, drones and if we are lucky, spot the Queen Bee! Finally, we will head back to the common area to unsuit, and we will do an honey tasting from 3 different honey harvested by the "Beekeepers Mamas" in our Training Center and in different villages of Zanzibar.
