What you'll do

Nothing is as fun as drinking beer from the bottle as you work on your DIY projects over the weekend! This is even more fun if doing it with people who share passion in what you are working on. This is what I am offering. With my help around the woodwork tools and as we slowly sip our beers, you will make and take home your own beautiful wooden picture frame. We will split the 4 hrs we will be together into 2 sessions. In the first 1.5hrs we shall begin with me introducing you to the workshop set up and basic woodworking tools with an emphasis on safety esp around the power tools. After that we shall all cut wood and join/glue the frames before breaking for lunch. We will have lunch together at Milele Mall, Ngong as we discuss woodwork and related subjects. That will be a good opportunity for me to answer any questions you may have on my workshop and the much I know about woodwork. This 1hr will also allow the glue to dry and the joints to bond firm. After lunch we will spend another 1.5hrs giving our frames the finishing touches. This session is very important because it is the finishing on wood products that differentiates a well made product from any other.

Joram

I am a lawyer by training doing an operations and logistics job but crazy-passionate about woodwork. Quite a mix, isn't it!? I used to do my DIY projects from commercial workshops before deciding to take the risk and buy my own tools and set up a small DIY workshop near where I live. I only wood-work on weekends. I would like to share my passion with other woodwork-passionate people and especially those who spend most of their time in offices to help them actualize their passion and probably set up workshops of their own should they want to.

What's included

Drinks
1L of Bottled water.
Equipment
Power woodworking tools and WI-FI (even though I will encourage us to stay off our phones to concentrate on learning)

Where you'll be

We will spend 3hrs in the workshop and go out for lunch at Milele Mall (about 1KM from the workshop) for lunch. We will walk to and from the Mall.

Things to keep in mind

Cancellation policy

Any experience can be cancelled and fully refunded within 24 hours of purchase, or at least 7 days before the experience starts.

Communication policy

Always communicate through Airbnb. To protect your payment, never transfer money or communicate outside the Airbnb website or app.

Guest requirements

Up to 8 guests ages 21 and up can attend. Bring something to cover your hair and parts of your body you would not want to come into contact with saw dust. I have ways of controlling saw dust but it never works 100%.

Government ID

You’ll need to take a picture of yourself that matches the photo on your ID. This is so Airbnb can confirm who’s actually going on the experience. You’ll only have to do this once.

More tips

Ngong Rd is known for bad traffic so kindly leave room for delay in your timing. Also, while I have done a good job to control saw dust in the workshop come ready to be dirty.
