About your host

After studying and working in different countries around the world, I returned to my hometown of Ghent last year. I have a PhD in Peace and Conflict studies and also work as a researcher but I'm a very social person and love to interact and talk to people from all over the world. That's why I love showing visitors the off-the-beaten-path local places and hidden gems of my city that they probably…

What we’ll do

As a visitor to any place, it is hard to know which places are authentic and which ones just plain old tourist traps. I love for visitors to try some of our best local foods and drinks (the ones that locals actually eat and drink) and that's why I want to make sure that they try them the right way and not in some adapted-for-tourists version. Join me in discovering some of Ghent's and Belgium's…

What else you should know

We won't sit down for a full large lunch, but we'll have small portions or things to share. We will also be walking or standing most of the time, so comfortable shoes and clothes are recommended.

What I’ll provide

Snacks and Appetizers
Several tastings of sweet and savoury foods
Beer, Juice and Soft drinks
Your choice of drink (local beer, soft drink or an other typical local drink)

What to bring

Comfortable walking shoes

Where you'll be

The places where we'll taste were picked not only because of the quality of the food (that was personally tested, repeatedly, by myself) but also because of the friendly and authentic people working there or the unique and historic setting. Between tastings, you'll learn more about some hidden gems that we pass by and anecdotes or stories about some of the highlights of Ghent.
