What you'll do

We’ll meet at the Jibhi waterfall around 3 PM, and hike up to Tandi, with my mountain dog. It’s fairly easy hike, with a total elevation gain of 300 meter. You’ll go through some of the most beautiful view points in my town. We’ll walk up through the villages in between, like Bhala Gaon and Bhua. You’ll hike through pastures, meadows and pine forests. You’ll see where our children go to school, where we get firewood from, how we farm. You’ll see our villages and apple orchards. We’ll pluck wild berries. You’ll spend some time with our cattle, sheep and goats. When you’re done, you’ll be familiar with how we live, and go about our lives. I’m at least as keen to show you the hidden, beautiful spots around Jibhi. We’ll hike up till where the waterfall originates. At the end of the day, we’ll cook Himachali mutton curry in the open fire in a meadow in the forest above my cottages. After dinner, we’ll drop you back in Jibhi in a car. Note: My English is fractured, and much of the experience will be conducted in Hindi, so long as all guests are comfortable. But there was no option to choose Hindi and my primary language, when I created this page.

Daleep

I live in Tandi, a remote village of about 100 people above Jibhi. I’ve been hosting guests from all over the world, for the past one year. My Airbnbs are the most remote in the town, but they’re also the most successful. Tandi is at the end of the habitable world, at the end of the habitable world. Where my Airbnb stands today, there stood a large rock, two years ago. The nearest market is 8 kilometers away. There’s nothing for the next six kilometers, except pine forests. Even the unpaved road wasn’t there 4 years ago. It snows continuously for many days in winter. We’ve been living here for hundreds of years. My guests often ask me how we get by in such a village. I’d like to answer this question through this experience, because I think it is a testament to the triumph of the human spirit.
