What you'll do

We begin our class at 10am with a short and sweet introduction to pinhole photography. We then spend one hour making individual pinhole cameras, then break briefly for some light refreshments. By 11.30am we will be loading up our new cameras with photographic paper ready to head off into the charming walled garden where we will explain how to calculate the correct exposure times along with some tips and hints for composing your images. Then its time create your first image.Following this we will return to the studio where each participant will develop there own photograph in the darkroom. Each participant will create two photographs one negative image, one positive image and everyone gets to bring new their camera's home.

Learn more about Yusuf

Yusuf

Yusuf Amod is a South African born photographer and educator based in Dublin. He holds a BA (Hons) degree in photography from Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art Design and Technology. He is also a practiced book maker and visual archivist. Jane Cummins is a photographer and educator from Dublin. She holds a MFA in photography from University of Ulster, Belfast. Her work has been exhibited nationally. The pair bonded over their love of analog photography. Their aim is to use their creative passion to preserve and raise awareness of alternative photographic processes’ once thought to be slowly fading out in an ever-increasing digital era. Yusuf and Jane have been running their creative photography workshops for the past two years based in the idyllic surrounds of Marlay Park, located at the foot of the Dublin Mountains.

Where you'll be

We will do our photoshoot in the flourishing walled garden of Marlay Park. Our studio is in the newly refurbished courtyard surrounded by many other artist's and creatives.

More tips

No experience necessary. Kid Friendly +6 years old. There's a street food and famers market just beside the courtyard every Saturday which might be nice to visit after the workshop.
