What you'll do

The class that I will teach for this experience will be a painting class investigating the abstract style painting using palette a knife. Beginning or novice painters are welcome to try this experience as this style of painting is intended for all who wish to learn an appreciation on how to paint in a nontraditional way. The course is broken up into 4 parts and will last for 1 hour and 30 min.
Part 1: (10 min)
This will be a short, but formal self-introduction, an introduction of abstract art /non-representational art as well as the materials that will use for this painting experience.
Part 2: (10 min)
This part is intended for me to conduct a short step-by-step demonstration of how to appropriately start your painting. For the sake of time, we will use acrylic paints or water-based paints which dry fairly quickly.
Part 3: (60 min)
This part is production time. In this section, you will have the opportunity to create your own Abstract painting with the palette knife.
10 mins for setting up the canvas & practice using the palette knives.
50 minutes of painting on your own while I walk around providing feedback.
Part 4: (10 min)
In this, we will wrap up and clean up.
Other things to note
Contact me at 347.543.5346 If you are not able to arrive on time. I will start the lesson at the scheduled time. Also, you will receive a free poster after the art-making experience.

I am a complete painting novice, and this was my first experience with abstract art. Ligel is an excellent instructor, and at the end of it all, I had a work of art I am especially proud of! I would recommend this workshop to anyone who is interested in learning more about the art form and/or would like to find the abstract artist in themself.

Ligel provided excellent instruction for a new style of art to me. I developed a deeper appreciation for how abstract art is created and defined, and I even learned to relax a bit and enjoy the process! The studio setting was warm and welcoming, and Ligel was a friendly, personable host. I highly recommend this class to anyone interested in exploring abstract and palette knife instruction.
