What you'll do

With this experience, our guests will be able to get to know about Porto's History and also get to know about Port Wine, learning and drinking.
We start at Praça da Liberdade, where i will make an introduction about me and the city. Our first stop, "São Bento" Train Station is where i will introduce you to our History depicted in more than 20.000 tiles. Then we walk around the Cathedral and to the oldest neighborhood of the city, talking about life in Porto, local point of view, discoveries and much more.
Walking from Porto's river side, we cross the famous bridge "Luis I" to the area where Port wine is stored, a small producer and drinking 4 Port wine Tastings. Due to the pandemic I needed to adapt the visit to one producer only once many wineries are still closed. As soon as they open we get back to visit two small producers.
We walk around the city for around 1.5 hours talking about history and lifestyle before the wineries. If you're interested only about the wine i don't recommend to book. This is not a mainly drinking tour.

I'm David the Co-founder of C&D Porto Local Tours in Porto. I studied tourism and entertainment from 2006 to 2009. I went to travel and work around Spain in Hotels and Resorts, but i came back to Porto in 2013 because i missed my family and city. I started to work as a guide (History, food and wine) since then and i love it. Now together with AIRBNB i want to provide a quality experience with a local feeling.

Where you'll be

The train station "São Bento" is considered to be one of the most beautiful train stations in the world thanks to more than 20 thousand tiles decorating the walls telling us stories about the country.
Porto's Cathedral is from the XII century. We walk around admiring the view points from there.
Barredo's neighborhood is the oldest area, where we will walk the narrow streets until we reach the Port Wine houses across the river.

David was an amazing host! He showed ups places we never would have found and gave us so much history. It is clear that he really loves Porto and wants to share with everyone. He gave us lots of local recommendations as well. Recommending this tour to all our friends!

David is a history scholar. After this walking tour you won't just know the history of Porto but you'll know world history and Portugal's many contributions to it. Due to Covid limitations we were only able to visit one wine cellar to sample different Port wines but that cellar was amazingly chic and the ports tasted great. I'd definitely recommend you join David on a journey through this beautiful city.

We (2p) joined the walking tour (first part) + Port tasting (second part) with David two days ago and I would ABSOLUTELY recommend it to everyone! David is incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable about Porto’s history and will be able to share a lot of fun, historical facts and stories that will make you appreciate the city even more. You will visit a few sites but in our view this was just what we were looking for. The tour really feels like you are just talking to a friend while gaining new insights on Porto. After crossing the bridge, the second part of the tour starts and you will be able to enjoy a Port tasting at a small producer (much more fun than with the large, commercial companies where you are just a number). Also here, David will be able to share his knowledge and the whole experience will definitely make you appreciate Port even more as the samples are very generous and of high quality. All in all, if you are looking for a relaxing way to spend your afternoon, this is the tour for you!

Just book this! Such a phenomenal tour of Porto and Port tasting. What I really enjoyed was learning about stuff that wouldn't typically hear on tours and the tour felt personable with a smaller group. I wasn't expecting such a an informative and proper Port wine tasting, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! We visited a boutique winery tucked away in a cute street away from the crowds. I feel like an expert on Porto and Port after this tour.
