What you'll do

TAYRONA PARK will be CLOSED from June 1 to June 15. During this time we will be exploring some other beaches on our BEAUTIFUL coastline! ASK ME for details!. We will meet at 10:30 am at the Santa Marta International Marina. We will then board the Artivela, our 56-foot Cooper Maple Leaf sailboat with capacity for 26 people. At 11 am we will leave for our destination, perhaps Bahia Concha or one-off the other bays in Tayrona Park (weather permitting).
The navigation to our destination will take about 1.5 hours. We will take the time to explain the basic fundamentals of sailing and talk about the special features of the park and its people. We also try our hand at fishing! We will pass the bays of Taganga and Granate. There we will traverse the famous Isla Aguja pass, the only island in Tayrona Park. Once we pass Isla Aguja we will enter Bahía Concha and we will try to anchor as close to the beach as conditions permit. Our fellow travelers can choose to swim, walk on the beach, snorkel or simply sunbathe on the boat.
At 4.15 pm we will begin our return journey back to Santa Marta. At this point we will unfurl our sails and everyone will participate in the unforgettable experience of sailing! We will arrive at the Marina at 6 pm. Anyone who would like to stay at the café de la marina is invited and encouraged to do so. There you you can share a drink with some of the fascinating people who are passing through as they sail the world.
This is your experience, so do not worry about anything. Let us take care of you. If you are prone to dizziness you can take some medicines to prevent it before we start our trip. I would like to remind you that, with me, you have everything included: entrance to the marina, Tayrona park fees, non-alcoholic drinks and lunch.

My name is Luis and I hold a masters degree in Economics which I earned while living in the U.K. I worked as a financial consultant in the Big 4 for more than 20 years. Four years ago I changed directions and decided to follow my passion: sailing and enjoying nature, especially the sea. I have been sailing since I was a mere 10 days old and it is a passion I inherited from my family. I love sharing my knowledge of the sea and navigation with the people who accompany me aboard my boat.
Since I arrived in Colombia with my family, I have had the opportunity to know the Tayrona Park in a way that most people do not - from the sea. It is a unique experience that I want to share with you!
I am bilingual (Spanish and English) and I love to talk and share local anecdotes.
Sailing with me you will not just have an experience, you will come to appreciate a way of life!

Where you'll be

We will begin our journey by leaving Santa Marta, the oldest city in Colombia. We will sail past Taganga, a beautiful, little fishing village as well as the bay of Granate. Shortly after we will enter Tayrona National Park. Tayrona Park is quickly becoming one of the favorite destinations of travelers for its natural beauty. Here you will find the sea as it meets the snowy peaks of the Sierra de Santa Marta. We will arrive in Bahía Concha, the largest bay in the park, famous for its crystal clear waters and fine, Caribbean sand.

The boat felt very safe and the food was great. I had fresh ceviche with fish that they literally just caught. The location was beautiful as well— we were all in the water for a long time and for good reason!
