What you'll do

Transportation departs from a central meeting point in San Juan to a quick stop at a local fruit stand. Tropical fruits are handpicked for later while the group grabs a last-minute chance at brunch. Local foods (fruit smoothies, empanadillas, grandmas cooking on take out trays.) We arrive at a secure parking area next to the river on private property. This Hiking experience is ideal for thrill-seekers, experienced adventure hikers, and nature lovers for trekking the backwoods of El Yunque Rainforest! A safety briefing is conducted and we scramble 45 minutes upstream in contact with water much of the time for an adventurous river bed hike! You will reach a natural springwater swimming pool with scenic waterfalls, a natural playground frequented by locals. We continue alongside cascades to a 2nd deep Swimming hole with 2 large waterfalls and amazing natural features that resemble a waterpark where locals show off how much fun can be had. A tropical fruit spread is offered as a late lunch so guests don't get "hangry". Lastly, we hike a floral muddy trail to get back and clean up. Overall there is ample playtime, relaxation time, and sufficient hiking that appeal to almost every type of adventure seeker. Note this hike optionally includes some areas rated as (strenuous, aggressive, physical fitness is ideal) Read the reviews for additional detail.

Where you'll be

At El Yunque Rainforest frequent rains plump up a lush array of green plants with big elephant ear leaves. Tall and thick bamboo reaches surprising heights. Flowers and tropical colors are stunning everywhere. This river is fed by spring water and rain that cascades through waterfalls and waterholes flowing clean and clear down the mountainside. This is a natural treasure where locals come to relax and play in the natural pools.
