What you'll do

A delicious street food snack that can be found in strategically placed little blue carts all over the city, this traditional Krakowian bagel is not only historical and endemic to the city, but also bloody delicious! Baked fresh every day by early rising bakers, they are then distributed around Krakow to the iconic blue wagons from which gently smiling older ladies and gentlemen will sell them to hungry passersby. Staying put until their cart is empty, 7 days a week. Try them topped with poppy seeds, sesame, linseed, cheese or salt. Today, an average of 150,000 are sold in Krakow every day while their ‘bagel’ brethren have long been popular in America, emigrating with Krakow’s Jewish community to New York. Our Krakow's famous Obwarzanki Workshop takes place in Salwator, beautiful area not far from Rynek Glowny – about 15 min by tram and 10 by taxi. We will be preparing together real Obwarzanki ( bagel's) Cooking with fun!

Meet your host, Marta

Hello! I’m Marta, I'm co-founder of the Eataway, but I also love cooking. I’ve always enjoyed sharing my knowledge of my beautiful hometown Kraków, and more about the art of Polish cuisine, both through the website I run eataway.com and with all the wonderful travellers I meet in person.

I also love cooking. My grandmother and my mother were great cooks. That means delicious, home-made food freshly-prepared for my family and friends, and fun evenings of conversation and shared experiences.
