What you'll do

Do you love the smell of fresh cut lumber and sawdust? Do you enjoy watching a raw material get transformed into a usable product? Look no further for an enjoyable, unforgettable experience! We will start off by going over the process of procuring logs for the sawmill and then dive into the mechanics of the sawmill (Woodmizer LT40 Hydraulic). Once we know how the sawmill works, the real fun begins! We will position a log for milling and guests will take turns using the hydraulics to move the log into the perfect cutting position (no heavy lifting needed - we let the sawmill do the hard work). After the log is in place and ready to be milled, I will demonstrate how to flat saw the log (due to liability reasons, guests will not be sawing). We will spend time going over how to deal with the waste products (slabs and sawdust) and how the economics of a sawmill work. We will wrap up with Q&A. If you don't see a date or time on my calendar that works for you, please don't hesitate to message me about a different date or time.

Learn more about Bryan & Monica

Bryan & Monica

I am an entrepreneur at my core and have lumber in my blood probably because my grandfather was a lumberjack. I am always looking for interesting, unique side-hustle business ventures and recently embarked on becoming a sawyer. I have cut over 20,000 board feet of lumber and many cords of firewood (as part of the milling process). This is a family business and it is common for my wife and kids to help out. I am cutting at our sawmill most evenings and weekends. Most of my cutting is for customer orders although I do cut speculatively as well. In addition to being a sawyer, I am a businessman who has found a way to make our sawmill profitable. I am excited to share my experience with Airbnb guests!
