What you'll do
I will pick you up at your accommodation with a classic American car with AC. There is no better way to begin connecting with a city and locals than at a farmer’s market. -First stop at Egido or Vedado Market. -Join me as we taste seasonal fruits, talk about traditional recipes and dishes, and share with locals as they buy fresh products. You’ll also get the chance to buy your own under my advice. -Learn about the dual currency system of the Cuban economy along the way. -Then, we’ll head to state-run markets with food and other products that are daily to Cuban life and where you’ll discover the difference that they make in locals’ life. -As a food enthusiast, I’ll also take you to non-tourist food places where you’ll savor signature Cuban snacks. -Stops for antiques, secondhand books, posters, crafted shoes and vinyl records are also included in the tour. -Know the stories behind some of the items and learn how to become a self-employee on the island. -No better way to finish this sort of hop-on hop-off adventure than with a delicious cup of Cuban coffee! -I'll drop you off at your airbnb casa/hotel.
My name is Dayami. As a farmer’s daughter born and raised on a farm on the outskirts of Havana, I’m passionate about fresh farm produce, its smells, traditional food and marketplaces in general. Hence, I intend to help you discover this fascinating world in my city from my perspective and imbue you with this passion and knowledge. I’ve used my farming backgrounds and skills as a local guide for some years now to create an experience that allows visitors not only to connect with the local food market but with the interesting array of marketplaces in Havana as well. By joining me, you opt for a one-of-a-kind cultural experience with vendor interaction, fresh smells, chats with business owners, delicious food samples and cultural traditions.
