What you'll do

There is a lot to see in Sydney and region and there is a lot that is picturesque, original, quirky and meaningful. On my discovery tours, I take English, French, German, Italian or Spanish-speaking visitors away from the beaten tracks or use the beaten tracks discriminately so as to give them an experience only a local can give. Depending on visitors' level of mobility and interests I will take them on foot or in my comfortable 7-seater car to the most striking and spectacular locations of the city, the region and beyond. In urban Sydney, this includes the historical areas (the Rocks, heritage buildings), views of the opera, the entrance to the harbour, harbour and ocean beaches, the picturesque Victorian areas and aboriginal sites. In the surroundings, the tours includes the nearby national parks, with their Aboriginal sites, northern harbour and ocean beaches, the Hawkesbury, the Hunter Valley and the wild areas of the Blue Mountains.

Pierre

I have years of experience as a professional tour guide in bringing English, French, Italian, German and Spanish-speaking visitors an experience of the history and geography of the Sydney area and Australia in general. I am a keen bushwalker and I have intimate knowledge of the spectacular wilderness around Sydney. I have taught in an Aboriginal school in Central Australia and I have extensive knowledge of Aboriginal and European-Australian cultures and history and I know how to make this history alive through accounts of events told in the locations where they happened. I live partly in the centre of Sydney and partly in the Blue Mountains and I know how to take people to the most breath-taking areas away from the crowds .

Where you'll be

Most people expect Sydney to be mainly a maze of modern high-rise buildings. This is far from the truth. There is an 'old Sydney' and there are lots of buildings dating back to the middle of the 19th century. Australians know how to preserve such buildings and highlight their interesting features while keeping their authenticity. They are best discovered in small groups through personalised visits. This is the experience I specialise in.
