What you'll do

Ideally people with have their own cameras, but one or two spare DSLR cameras will be available should people wish to borrow them. The initial stage will be to find out how well people know there cameras, the settings and limitations, what their camera is capable of as well as getting a rough idea of what people want from the session. The local countryside or a tourist attraction in Pisa or Florence will be the focus of the visit. We will explore using the cameras manual settings, aperture, shutter speed, composition and look at cropping and creating pin sharp images and also how to blur the background to make the central image more prominent. At the end of the shoot, each guest will choose three pictures they have taken and offer them to the group for a constructive critique stating why they chose that photo and why they like it, using a lap top and projector. All photos taken by the guests will be emailed to them on completion of the workshop.

Roy

Until recently I worked as a qualified teacher of adults for a local college in England. Now residing in Tuscany, I am looking to share my knowledge and love of landscape photography with others using the majestic countryside of Tuscany as a back drop. I have been a keen amateur photography for a number of years and served as the Chairperson of a local photographic society for 17 years prior to my move to Chianni. I have exhibited locally and nationally in Britain and it is my intension to explore exhibiting in Italy

Where you'll be

The hills around Chianni are very picturesque. Hidden waterfalls, rivers and dense woodland, coupled with rolling hills, vineyards and fields of sunflowers, wheat and wild meadows make for creating stunning photographs. The fauna and flora add to the experience with wild flowers, wild boar and deer living in the area. Alternatively, the workshop could take place at a famous tourist spot in Pisa, Siena or Florence.
