What you'll do

We will gather at the most photographed spot on earth.... Tunnel View, in Yosemite National Park which provides the first glimpse of the splendor of Yosemite. We will discuss the photographic work of Ansel Adams and his work with values of darkness and light. I'll share readings from the journals of John Muir, who had a major influence on establishing the national park system and provide examples to help document your own reactions to the majesty of the Yosemite in a journal through the medium of watercolor. Composition, graphic styles, lettering styles, painting techniques and equipment needed is discussed. You will have the opportunity to document the sights and sounds of Yosemite that are cherished a lifetime. John Muir wrote “Only by going alone in silence, without baggage, can one truly get into the heart of the wilderness. All other travel is mere dust and hotels and baggage and chatter.” –John Muir in a letter to his wife Louie in July 1888.
