What you'll do

You are done with the historical parts, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, and now do you want to hang out like a local outside of the old town? Well, then it is time to book your day with me! I offer to introduce you the lesser known sights and facts of Istanbul and even want to make you an Istanbuller by end of the day.

I have specialized my tour just for those who want to know the true face of Istanbul including its history, culture, tradition, and tips for the local life.

We start the day by enjoying the best Turkish coffee in the city where I tell you everything about our caffeinated elixir, its history, and tips to make it correctly. We spend one fourth of our time in a coffee house so if this sounds exciting, this experience is just your 'cup of coffee!'

Our route covers a long walking tour around Taksim, Beşiktaş on the European side, and Kadıköy on the Asian side. Once we walk through Beşiktaş's most delightful streets, palaces, mosques and pay a visit to its marketplace, then we will hop on a ferry and switch continents, because, this is what we do here on a daily basis: switching the continents! Well, what else can I say more? Welcome to Istanbul in advance!

Overall, if you are looking for a host whom you also wish to build personal relations and even to become good friends then I am your guy, because this is ‘Istanbul Through the Eyes of A Local’ you’re looking at now!

I had an awesome time with Ahmet. It was my second experience with him, and again, I felt him just like I was hanging out with a friend. The group was 3 people and we had an awesome time, talking amd enjoying like we were a group of friends that know each other for a long time. Apart from that, Ahmet has an incredible knowledge not only about his country's history, but about the world in general, about food, coofee and the city day to day life. The talks consisted in a lot of historical lessons, Turkish food, stories about Turkey and so many Istanbul places, popular culture and national identity. It was so vast, rich and amazing that I will not forget it. There's so many things I will tell my friends and family when I go back home, and I even feel that I have a strong knowledge of the city that will help me go through alone. I had another tours, but this and the food experience were so great that it made me feel all the others were just a waste of time. I feel really glad to have found Ahmet, and I can say he was the best guide I had, not only in Istanbul, but anywhere else I were before. He is not only very illustrated on what he does but also an amazing person that will make you feel confortable and happy all that time. He definitely cares about his clients and it's evident he loves what he does - and he does it very good. Thanks a lot and I really hope we can keep in touch amd eventually meet again soon!

There is great generosity and thoughtfulness in the manner Ahmet shares his city. He has knowledge, and weaves his tales very well, though most rewarding is his critical mind and all the places a question will take him. The tour was excellent, the spots rewarding, but it’s the guide that makes the journey worthwhile.

Ahmet is an amazing guy—there aren’t many people better than him! He is knowledgeable, friendly and patient. However, our preference for an appealing tour is to experience excitement, see beautiful sites and learn local knowledge. From our perspective, the tour felt like a glorified food tour, which took us for Turkish coffee, pastries and tea, pide, and biscuits. We spent the entire day walking between cafes and then getting on the ferry to Asia later than expected. We barely had time to explore the Kadıköy markets before it got dark. The tour is framed as experiencing Istanbul through the eyes of a local, which we felt should be doing things like finding hidden courtyards in the Bazaar, stumbling upon secret cafes with views that overlook Istanbul (and its many mosques), or meeting the locals who have worked in the markets for generations. We were expecting more excitement and less focus on eating food. But again, some people may love the food-focus and Ahmet is a great guy.

Ahmet was a great local guide who showed us around to a real (and great!) Turkish coffee place, let us experience super tasty pastries, and interesting off-the-beaten-path areas of the city, next to the more busy main streets. All while telling engaging stories about the history of Turkey, Istanbul, and the locations we visited. Thanks again, Ahmet :)
