This experience was, by far, my favorite overall excursion while in Cusco. Not only was our guide incredibly kind and wonderful, but the whole experience was unreal. Couple things of note: 1. My wife and I were the only ones that booked the tour for that day, so we rode the 3hrs in a taxi. This was SO nice for us, but I imagine it was a unique situation. I cannot speak to the comfort of a van/ group tour. 2. I may be in the minority, but the ATV’s were so fun I almost forgot about the actual rainbow mountain part of everything! The views along the way were once in a life time and I can’t imagine huffing and puffing the whole way instead of cheering with joy haha 3. The ATV’s felt very safe and easy. My wife and I had never ridden ATV’s, but we had no problems at all. 4. I *think* the route we took to ATV is a different route than the traditional hikers. Just for those who are wondering. 5. The food was very basic, but pretty yummy! Probably the best we had on any of our guided tours while in Peru. 6. My wife did experience pretty severe altitude sickness. Don’t take this lightly! Our guide was equipped with oxygen (which she did use once) and was VERY patient with our baby little steps hiking down. 7. The final hike, as others have mentioned, is very challenging- even if it is pretty short (30-60 mins!) 8. We opted to rent horses for the hike, since my wife was really feeling sick. They costed 50 Soles each + tip. They bring you up (95% of the way) and you need to walk down yourself. 9. I do speak Spanish, so I cannot give any incite on how the language barrier would be. It seemed like our guide knew enough English to communicate, though. Overall, I can’t recommend this experience again! Probably the only thing I would want to do AGAIN, in Cusco.

Honesty a once in a lifetime experience. It was amazing riding the ATVS on the way to the mountain. That by itself is worth the experience. The guild was so helpful and insightful. The hike up the mountain is difficult but the guild ran back and forth between groups to make sure we all made it. It is one of the best experiences I’ve had in Peru.
