What you'll do

Learn to scuba dive while exploring the reefs and cenotes (ancient swimming holes) of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula.

You’ll begin with warm-up dives on a reef in Playa del Carmen, lead by a Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI)-certified scuba teacher. You’ll swim with rainbow fish, barracudas, grouper, reef shark, turtles, rays, and more.

Day two will include reef dives around the stunning island of Cozumel, and on day three you’ll drive to the jungle to do two 40-minute dives in ancient natural swimming holes.

I would recommend this to anyone who has snorkelled a few times and is considering taking the next step. Lahlo is very patient and experienced. Two minutes into the first dive I was ready to give up because I didn’t think I could do it and he calmed me down and didn’t let me quit so easily. I am very glad I didn’t quit, the whole three days were a blast and I am looking forward to doing more diving in the future because of this experience.

What an incredible 3 days! We had never dived before and wanted to complete our open water PADI cert with Lahlo, which he happily obliged. After completing our training in the pool we were quite nervous going into the open water but Lahlo is a total pro and made it so much fun! It's an experience we will never forget and has given us such a passion for diving we're already looking for our next fix. The Cozumel day was incredible. The reefs and marine life we experienced there is something I'll never forget. Fantastic way to complete our PADI cert and made a new friend along the way. Thanks Lahlo!

It's always more special when you get to connect with your guide. Doubly so if you're a novice swimmer going scuba diving out of the blue! I was lucky to have found Lahlo. He is a very perceptive guide, catching even subtle body language, techniques of breathing, kicking, ear-popping and correcting you. I couldn't attend on one of the three days to begin with, so he even offered to adjust the dates. I am a noob at swimming and it took me a while to adjust to having to voluntarily sink into the sea. On the first day, we went to Casa Cenote near Playa del Carmen where Lahlo taught be the basics, familiarized me with the gear and techniques. The dive was calm and serene in the fresh waters of the cenote. After the first dive, I developed horrible earaches unfortunately, and we decided to take a break on the second day. The plan was for two dives in Playa del Carmen initially. On the third day, we ferried out to Cozumel island early in the morning and then further out into the open sea where we dived twice in different locations, each around 40 mins, among the reefs. These two dives were transcendent. Clear blue water, white sandy sea floor, fluorescent and boldly colored reefs and fishes and even a pink and blue lobster! And complete silence except for your own exhalations. I am deeply grateful to Lahlo for babysitting me through all of this. He had his hands full with me, I was high-maintenance. All the dives were very well organized, including the boat rides, food, water, equipment and clothing. Lahlo texts you the day before everytime to reconfirm the plans. And through all of the driving and ferrying, I got to know him as a person and I'm very happy to have made a friend. Be sure to make him sing and shimmy, he has trained for that too :)
