What we’ll do

Participants will harvest Japanese indigo, strip the leaves from the stems, and prepare an ice water bath using a blender. They will then have a half hour to do a little shibori work on a silk scarf if they so desire. Then the scarf will go into the bath. The scarf will emerge a blue green, and on swishing it rapidly in a rinse bucket it will turn a brilliant robin's egg blue. We will also use an…

I will provide apron, gloves, 1 silk scarf, and cotton cloth plus all of the supplies necessary to harvest the indigo and make the dyebath.
