El

I'm a designer and bookbinder, after studying for a BA in Graphic Design I opted for a more hands-on vocation and apprenticed in traditional hand bookbinding at the Royal Bindery in Windsor Castle. I now works as a bookbinder for artists, designers and book lovers in Lisbon. I currently host a range of bookbinding workshops for passers-by and locals - they're all about discovering the possibilities of the book and making unique, handmade notebooks from scratch.

Where you'll be

The workshop will take place at a third floor atelier on Rua de Santa Justa in Baixa just seconds from the Elevator Santa Justa and offers a space of quietude from the bustling street below. Originally in an apartment, the atelier boasts all of its original features including its traditional Azulejos tiles. The building, constructed soon after the 1755 earthquake, is a beautiful example of the city's renovation under Marques de Pombal.
