Bästekille is a small village situated at a high altitude between Södra Mellby and Vitaby. It is 3 km to Kivik and about 18 km to Simrishamn. Here, you will find apple orchards and grazing cows. In the village, there is a farm shop selling eggs, potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Everything is certified by the local farmer in the village. The Fabriken art gallery is located in the village. In southern Mellby, there is a bakery where you can buy delicious pastries and bread. The nearest places for swimming are Kivik or Vitemölla, where there are beautiful sandy beaches. The cottage is located by a road.

During the summer holidays, Östra Färsbadet, a heated leisure pool, is within walking distance. Lövestad Åsar & Skåneleden are also nearby, and you can walk around the cosy village and read the approximately 50 history signs that are displayed on several of the houses in the centre. In the village, there is a well-stocked Ica Nära, open from 9 am to 8 pm, and Crown Pizzeria, which also has Indian food.
