The property has stunning views of the Lake District, the Pennines and the Scottish border hills.

Herdy Lodge is a contemporary take on a country cottage (Insta =HerdyLodge) It is within our family smallholding on the Northern slopes of the Eden Valley where we farm our happy flock of herdwick sheep. It has a private drive and garden with a terrace looking directly onto the lakeland fells. Plenty to do nearby: Takin Tarn, Hadrian's Wall, Lakes and Dales, Rhegged Centre.

A basic and cosy shepherds hut a few minutes walk from the Hadrian’s Wall trail, tucked away on a tiny campsite (Camping at Banks), a no vehicles site where you can enjoy the sounds of nature. The hut has a wood burning stove, bottom sheets and pillows. You can hire sleeping bags from us. There is a compost loo and outside sink but no shower or electricity. The hut is suitable for those arriving by foot or bicycle - there is NO PARKING on the site. Single night stays welcome!

Talkin village is a lovely location with a great pub. Our cottage is the perfect base to explore Hadrian's wall, the Lake District, Carlisle and the Pennines. We are lucky enough to have the Beautiful Talkin tarn just on our doorstep. The cottage was formerly the village postoffice, it has been fully renovated to high standard and is the perfect place to relax in front of the log burner after a day exploring the local area.
