Furry friends welcome

Bring your pets along for the stay.
Pepperpot Cottage is a lovely home away from home in the vibrant and bustling seaside town of Whitstable. Well-positioned a short stroll from both the beach and the high street, the Cottage provides the ideal seaside getaway to enjoy Whitstable’s boutique shops, restaurants, bars and the stunning sunsets. It also makes a great base to explore further afield. Whether escaping for the weekend or enjoying a week away by the sea we would be delighted to welcome you to Pepperpot Cottage.

The space
Our cosy cottage is situated in the heart of the lovely seaside town of Whitstable within a short stroll of the beach, harbour and high street shops, restaurants and pubs. The wonderful East Kent Pub, whose food is brilliant, and the infamous bakery Grain and Hearth whose bread and pastries are incredible are minutes from the cottage. Not to mention, our favourite Chippie, the Seven Seas Fish Bar being only a minute from the cottage which has become a firm family favourite on a Friday evening. We are always happy to recommend restaurants, suggest walking routes and local attractions to visit. Our guest guide provides all you need and we always send it to you well in advance. We are sure you’ll enjoy Whitstable and our cottage as much as we do.

Pepperpot Cottage has a spacious, open plan lounge and dining area with plenty of comfy seating by a gas fire (perfect for winter months), a Smart Ultra HD TV, DVD player, bluetooth stereo and plenty of DVDs, books and board games. There's superfast broadband with full coverage throughout (perfect for guests who might be working from “home”). The dining table seats 4 people with plenty of tableware, cutlery and glasses provided.

The kitchen has everything you need to cook up a storm using Whitstable’s local ingredients or just to simply make a cup of tea or use the coffee machine. The kitchen leads out to the garden which is a perfect place to sit and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

The cottage comfortably sleeps 4 people with two spacious and bright double bedrooms upstairs. The main bedroom has a king size bed and the second bedroom has twin beds.

The spacious bathroom has a large(!) bath with overhead shower along with plenty of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel (we also have a hairdryer for your use).

In our small private garden we have plenty of outdoor seating, umbrella, charcoal BBQ with all required utensils etc. We also have a selection of beach accessories and crabbing equipment If you plan a trip to the beach or harbour.

We have everything you need if you have a little one (please just ask for our high chair, booster seat, baby monitor or travel cot if needed). Be mindful, the stairs are quite steep which is pretty typical of fishermen's cottages in Whitstable.

For your stay we'll provide various cleaning products including clothes, sprays, hand sanitizer and disposable wipes.

You may have seen from our photos we are fans of our four-legged friends and we do welcome well-behaved small/medium sized dogs for a modest fee. We are sure they will love Whitstable just as much as you!

Neighbourhood highlights

Whitstable’s high street is packed full of wonderful eateries, unique watering-holes and amazing shops selling local produce and artisan bakes. You'll be debating over whether to go to Birdie’s (a Whitstable landmark) for their Beef Wellington, Wheeler’s Oyster Bar for, you guessed it, Whitstable Oysters and phenomenal picnic boxes or Sunday Lunch at The East Kent (some of our current favourites)! There are plenty more great places for brunch, lunch and dinner and we will be more than happy to help you out with any recommendations (we have a list in our guide book).

After a long day perusing the shops, catching the sun in the summer months or walking along the seafront, there are plenty of great watering-holes. We would highly recommend The Twelve Taps which has an ever-changing array of craft beers/ales and gin shelf, the Tankerton Arms and of course the Old Neptune which is the perfect place to watch the sun go down (check out our photos for the evidence).

Whitstable’s location means there is always something to do. It has plenty of different shops, exhibitions and the harbour market which always provide us with plenty to explore, as well as the Oyster Festival in July. The town also offers the opportunity to explore the coast and Canterbury. For those that like walking, you can walk along the seafront to Seasalter or further to Faversham if you really want to stretch your legs or head east to Tankerton and Herne Bay, which is a more traditional seaside town. A short train ride away are the coastal towns of Ramsgate and Margate. The latter is home to the Turner Contemporary Gallery and trendy Cliftonville with plenty of pop-up shops and art exhibitions. The city of Canterbury is accessible by bus (from the end of the road), train and bike and is home to the famous Cathedral, a rich variety of shops and restaurants. You can cycle or walk to Canterbury on the Crab and Winkle Way, a disused railway line. For those who wish to explore the sea, the Yacht Club provides rentals and in the harbour itself there are boat trips along the coast where you can visit the Maunsell Forts.
