Circumvention Policy

When we prohibit someone from using Airbnb or restrict their access, they are not permitted to bypass (or “circumvent”) our enforcement. We also do not allow other users to facilitate a prohibited individual or business’s continued access to Airbnb, including when accounts are closely affiliated with each other. If we detect an account is engaging in or facilitating circumvention, or assess it is highly likely that it will, we may take additional preventative action, up to and including account removal.

Below are some examples of what we prohibit under this policy:

  • Creating a duplicate account or listing
    • A user may not create a duplicate account or listing to circumvent enforcement measures by Airbnb or negative consequences on an account (for example, negative ratings or reviews).
  • Helping anyone who is prohibited from using Airbnb to use the platform
    • When Airbnb prohibits an individual or restricts their access, a user may not help that individual use Airbnb as a Host or a Guest. For example:
      • Co-hosting or co-traveling with anyone that has been prohibited or restricted from using the platform for any reason
      • Creating an account or booking a reservation on behalf of someone whose account was removed or restricted
      • Making a booking for anyone under the age of 18
