Services and experiences on Airbnb are vetted for quality to help guests book with confidence.

Basic standards and qualifications

Services and experiences on Airbnb must meet our basic standards. In reviewing whether hosts and their offerings meet these standards, Airbnb considers criteria like years of experience, education, certifications, awards, strong portfolios, creative offerings, and guest reviews.

Airbnb reviews information provided by hosts during the onboarding process and partners with third-party providers that help us vet certain host qualifications. Depending on the specific activity being hosted, our vetting process may include some or all of the following:

• Where available, we review feedback from previous guests about the host and/or the activity they offer to help evaluate a host’s reputation in their field. In some cases, we may also review hosts’ public social media profiles, personal or business websites, or other information a host has made publicly available.
• We review information provided by the host as part of their listing submission about their level of knowledge and experience with the relevant activity. In some cases, our third-party providers also attempt to confirm information about a host’s employment history, education, awards, or industry recognition with employers or other relevant organizations identified by the host in their submission. We may not be able to independently verify all information included in a host’s listing.
  
• We review information provided by the host about the specific activity they are offering on Airbnb. For experiences, this includes a review to determine whether the activity provides connection to the city and local culture, and whether the venue is suitable for the activity. For services, this includes reviewing the host’s portfolio of offerings.

Ongoing quality process

After we determine that a service or experience is qualified for our platform, we regularly evaluate ratings, reviews, and other quality signals to help confirm that hosts follow our host ground rules for services and experiences.
