“Excellent home in the foothill mountains of Kinabalu. Host communication and assistance was superb. We had complete privacy but remained in close contact via WhatsApp “need anything up there, mate”. We stayed a week and the food provisions in the pantry and refrigerator surpassed our needs and expectations. The cabin is architecturally beautiful and interesting and offers great views and breezes. It’s just the right distance from Tamperuli in that one can hike (long) or bum a ride into town or back, to explore the market and famous bridge. For the adventurous, there are small roads and trails to explore in the mountains. Host’s three dogs are sweet and occasionally visit to say hi. Always felt safe and secure and the cabin locks up nicely (but you really wouldn’t need to). Bathroom is clean and functional. Plenty of filtered drinking water provided. Outdoor tub quite refreshing. Friendly locals. Gorgeous bird and insect life abounds. Some mosquitos around, as expected. The little ants on the porch are fun to watch. The smart little guys never climb up our legs and they carry off any crumbs from the ground. A magic place we will dream of returning to.”
Hello Kota Kinabalu We are opening May 15, and our 5-star cleaning standards are now more important than ever: a spotless house, every single touch point sanitized, all linens washed and sanitized. It's how we have always operated, and now, more than ever. For peace of mind, your house is equipped with cleaning products should you wish to sanitize even further. Lastly, our location is remote, private, and incredibly low density, quite often with one set of guests at a time – You.
“We weren’t sure what our stays here would be like as the listing is relatively new, but our expectations were exceeded! Starting at the beginning the directions to the boat meeting point were accurate and both times we went the boat was there waiting for us- hopping into the boat and heading for the private beach are a great start to your stay. The welcome from Martini was lovely- fresh fruit and cool towels and settling into our cute, clean chalet set back from the beach. During our stay we enjoyed the excellent food including a BBQ, the food was varied each day and easily the best we ate in 2 weeks across Borneo- for our second stay we asked ahead for an extra meal- late lunch as we knew it would be great! We also had a few fair price beers relaxing on the beach, and wine in the evenings. I wish we’d stayed a couple of days longer- we enjoyed relaxing on the beach or in the hammocks, SUP and swimming. It’s definitely worth bringing some reading material as you have no WiFi, but it’s great to disconnect and enjoy the surroundings. The place and hospitality is definitely one of a kind, and we felt lucky to have experienced it during our trip!”
Hidden away in the Soundal Bay, this little nature lodge is surrounded by a coral reef on our front yard and a small forest on our backyard. We rely solely on solar power and natural mountain spring water. In such an environment visitors often confuse themselves as being on a private island after being brought in on a 5 minutes boat ride. Just one hour 15 minutes drive from Kota Kinabalu activities includes snorkeling and canoeing, jungle hiking, trips to the island nearby
“We had a great stay at this little scenic private bay enjoying our nice beach hut with private veranda. Made a nice snorkeling trip to the next island with snorkeling equipment kindly provided by the hosts. All stuff was very kind and helpful at any moment and did not leave any wishes open - including food and beverages. So nice to feel warmly welcomed!!! The hosts Nathasia and her family were around for the weekend and we really appreciated their open-mindedness and interest as well as their thoughtfulness regarding all guests :-) The place appears to have a great future, all the best from our side!”
