Kreuzberg: the very vivid and alternative part of town. Get off at Görlitzer Bahnhof and walk along the Oranienstraße. There are plenty of nice food places and little shops. Bergmannstraße is the other Kreuzberg "Kiez" where you can take a nice walk. Get off at Mehringdamm.

It's one of my favorite and hot spots I could recommend you! Just go there and take some food with you, go up onto the hill and reach the view platform... you'll be amazed.
