The sestiere Castello is the largest of Venice's districts and the only one that does not overlook the Grand Canal. Its name derives from the presence of a medieval fort that was built on the island of San Pietro. The sestiere borders directly with Cannaregio and San Marco. With the latter it is also connected by the famous Ponte di Paglia (Straw Bridge) that links the quay of St. Mark's Square with the Riva degli Schiavoni.

The Castello neighbourhood is close to San Marco Square, one of the most extended ones in Venice, representing the tail of the fish that is Venice's map. This neighbourhood, which is the home of our guest house, is also full of restaurants and services. As well as some iconic points of interest such as; San Zaccaria church, Campo della Bragora, The Arsenale or La Biennale di Venezia.
