“We visited for a week on our family vacation with our two children, aged 5 and 7. Location and views were a dream - really, unbelievable!!!!! And the house is decorated in such a pleasing and cozy style. It was really the ideal place for us to stay. The kids loved their bedroom, fires in the stove, taking care of the fairy house in the yard, toasting marshmallows on the grill...we enjoyed that all too, plus wifi in the house and convenient location to necessities (grocery) as well as activities - we visited Killarney (about 25 min away), Cobh (about 2 hours away, our son is obsessed with the Titanic and was ecstatic to visit the Titanic Experience museum), and Ring of Kerry (within 30 min) (including Skellig Loop with chocolate factory!). Also, a hike from the house, giving spectacular views of the area. Our stay was simply wonderful. Annette was so thoughtful and left us some beer and sweets with a note wishing us a happy anniversary (our trip was in celebration of that!).”
Rós Dearg is the perfect getaway, offering you peace and tranquillity lying at the foot of the northern lower slopes of the MacGillycuddy Reeks at the head of Caragh Valley. The Rós Dearg bungalow is typical of what one should expect for a getaway in the Irish countryside. A traditional and cosy open plan bungalow scented by the wood burning fireplace. This space makes you feel relieved of the unnecessary complications of every day living.
“Ros Dearg is a lovely, Irish cottage set at the end of a long driveway. It is removed from the roadway and close to Caragh Lake. Quiet area, surrounded by trees and colorful gardens. Parking near to front door. Wide doorways, warm interior, up to date kitchen. Bathroom with shower and washing machine next to bedroom. Master bath with tub shower near to master bedroom. View of lake about a 200 feet downslope from the house. Sitting room with piano and door to exterior patio with barbecue grill, chairs and table. Living room with fire place. Dining room with table and chairs. TV room. And a Sauna. Helen met us and gave guidance to house operations.”
The ideal place to get away from it all! Nestled amongst oak trees on a small private peninsula at Caragh Lake lies Acorn Cottage, a cosy three-bedroom lakefront hideaway just off the Wild Atlantic Way with luxury interiors, open fire and all modern conveniences. Voted one of the "Top 50 Places to Stay" by The Irish Times in 2019.
“Idyllic holiday oasis in fantastic nature For the selection of the house for us was above all the quiet and somewhat secluded location in the nature directly at the lake in combination with the many leisure activities of different kind. Whether relaxing on the beach, going to the (pub) culture, sightseeing, strolling through nice cities and shopping, walking, eating, fishing, staring, canoeing etc. We have a wonderful, relaxing holiday with many unforgettable experiences spent. The house has contributed a lot in its unique location on the small peninsula - surrounded by trees, the Lough Caragh and so much nature. It is absolutely quiet here! The hotel is also an ideal starting point for exploring the Ring of Kerry. The next village with nice pubs and great eating places is also quite fast by car. The layout of the house was for us as a family of 4 with our two kids (13 and 16 years) perfect and very comfortable, especially with the three bathrooms. The house is generously cut and very well equipped, also with the most important items of the daily requirement in sufficient quantity supplied as coffee, dish soap, toilet paper, kitchen roll, detergent etc, which is not necessarily self-evident. It was clean and well maintained. Even the firewood lay ready stacked in the fireplace for a first fire. Here simply fit the "small" details, which are responsible for the well-being. The beautiful seating area in front of the house overlooking the lake invites you to a leisurely breakfast in the open, for reading or simply for doing nothing. Even a grill for the preparation of a steak from the local butcher or the self-caught fish is available. The description of the house is really perfect. Michelle and Jens are great hosts. They have us during our stay here as well and warmly cared for, as we have not experienced so far. They were always available, provided us with detailed and valuable information about the area and made us feel more welcome here. You arrive and feel right at home. Such hosts give the AirBnB idea all the honorable thanks to you both! If we were to return to this area, we would definitely book this house again. This accommodation is absolutely and absolutely recommendable!”
